OPEF Presidents Day and Pulaski Day events for kids

Looking for exciting options for kids on Presidents Day (Feb. 18) and Casimir Pulaski Day (March 4) when schools are closed?

Presidents Day, February 18, 9-12 year olds, 2-4PM
The Oak Park Education Foundation (OPEF) is offering a special, free program for kids ages 9-12 in conjunction with the Oak Park Public Library in the Oak Park Main Library Storytime Room. Kids will design and build cool machines using the motorized LEGO mechanism sets from our Geared Up program — learning exciting hands-on lessons, testing their own ideas and working individually and in teams of two.
Register online at oppl.org/events/calendar, in person, or by phone at 708.452.3420.
Casimir Pulaski Day, March 4, 3rd-8th graders, 8AM-3PM
New this year — BASE Camp GAME DAY! All day, 3rd-5th graders will play some new games and make up others.  They’ll construct their own mini-golf course out of LEGOs, play improv games to make each other laugh, create an artsy board game to take home, and cut loose with games in the gym.  6th-8th graders will spend the day designing and constructing a cardboard arcade, which the younger kids will play at the end of the day. And there will be cheesy prizes to be won!
Register online at opef.org/basecamp. Questions? Contact  Jenny Roen, BASE Camp Coordinator, jroen@opef.org.
Limited to first 80 kids in 3rd/4th/5th grade, and 20 kids in 6th/7th/8th grade.  Limited number of scholarships also available.
