Irving School Photos–COVID-Style!

Photo by Valentin Antonucci on Pexels.com

Thanks to a fellow Irving parent and professional photographer, we have arranged outdoor, contactless, socially distant school photo sessions beginning next week. You do not need to buy the photos ahead of time, but instead will be given a link after your session that you can use to select your packages. There will also be various items for sale, such as keychains, etc., for you to choose from.

Please note, you must sign up for a photo session ahead of time. There will be no makeup sessions. If the weather is horrible, we will work on adding alternative days or will make other arrangements, but there will be no retakes. You do not need to choose a package ahead of time, but instead can wait to see your pictures. If you have more than one child getting pictures taken, please sign them up for consecutive spots. Masks are required until it is time for your pictures. Picture package prices are still being computed, but will likely fall between $24 and $50.

Thanks to Chris Ocken, for giving us such great pricing on this and for helping us to be able to do some of the things we all look forward to in normal times. Sign up for pictures below!

Irving Freecycle Facebook Page

Introducing Irving Freecycle!

These uncertain times call for the communal care of our neighbors. Irving Freecycle is a safe space to facilitate the sharing of resources, connecting those in need of specific items with those who have them to give. We need members willing to help others, as well as those who are in need, to function properly, so spread the word and encourage current and past Eagles to join.

The Irving Freecycle Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/777183416366191/) is provided by the Washington Irving Elementary School PTO to help connect community members.

Information on how to join the group can also be found on the Irving PTO website (https://irvingpto.com) and through the Washington Irving School Parents Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/irvingelementarypto/), as well as going to the link directly.

  • ALL items and requests posted on this page are FREE, regardless if new or used. ABSOLUTELY NO SELLING.
  • Anonymous Request (ISO) can be made by sending a private message (PM) to one of the site administrators. All information will be kept in strict confidence.
  • If you know a neighbor in need who is not on Facebook, please share this document or the link to the form below with them.

Not on Facebook? No problem!

If you aren’t on Facebook, but have a need, please fill out the following form:

https://forms.gle/R7buQ51g9KSSuzhZ6

We will do our best to fulfill your request. If we have any questions, or issues, we will be in touch to help identify a solution.

If you have something to give or donate, but do not have Facebook, you can make a note of this in the description portion using this form as well.

***If you are on Facebook – please post your request on the Irving Freecycle page. This form should be used only by those without access to Facebook or who wish to keep their requests private.***

Need coats, shoes, hats, gloves? Be specific in your request.

The more specific you can be, the better! Do you need boys size 11 pants for winter or size 3 snow boots?  Do you need Thanksgiving food items or warm pajamas for mom (size L), someone might have those to give! Do you need holiday toys for a fourth-grade girl who is into LOLs? Let us know in a post on Facebook or via this request form and we’ll do what we can to meet your need.

Update: Move-A-Thon

The Move-A-Thon is a week-long virtual event that will take place from Sunday, September 6th to Saturday, September 12th. This FUNdraiser is being held in lieu of the Fun Run this year, but the goal is the same: to help the PTO continue its important work on behalf of our Irving community. In addition to the things it does every year (book donations, Eagles Extras scholarships, staff appreciation week, and much more), this year the PTO distributed hundreds of e-gift cards (over $10,000) to Irving families in need of assistance.

The Virtual Move-A-Thon is open to all Irving families! Students can roll in their wheelchairs, scoot, bike, walk, jog, run, rollerblade, rollerskate, skateboard, dance and/or do other movements, and record their movements and times at https://forms.gle/XHSqkzwt8PRKkdaS9. Prizes will be awarded to the students in each grade with the most minutes and the most different types of movements performed. Families who are in a position to do so are invited to make donations using a no-frills donations platform: http://bidpal.net/irvingsvirtualmoveathon.

Please submit a photo or short video of your kiddo or whole family participating in the Move-A-Thon by email to FunRun@IrvingPTO.com for inclusion in an end-of-event slideshow (and possibly the school yearbook).

For more information or if you have questions, please do not hesitate to email Dawn Goulet or Melissa De Jesus-Vasquez at FunRun@IrvingPTO.com.
