Eagle Extras

Updated 2/1/2023

Eagle Extras is an after school enrichment program brought to you by the Irving PTO. There are two sessions throughout the school year, with different offerings each session.  These fee-based activities are taught by a variety of outside organizations and instructors, and Irving teachers.

Registration for the Winter/Spring Session is Closed. But we could still use some Parent Volunteers to help our programs run smoothly!

Volunteers are needed for about 20 minutes at dismissal time on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the length of our session, Feb. 2-May 5th.

As you may have seen, we had unprecedented enrollment in our classes, particularly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We need your help overseeing and checking in the kids in the auditorium on these days.

We would ask for you to arrive about 5-7 mins before school lets out and stay for about 15-20mins to help get the kids checked in with our in-site coordinator. Your child can be told to just meet you in the auditorium after school while you help out.

We would love for a commitment of either Wednesdays or Thursdays for the whole session to have some continuity, but if that is too much of a commitment we would take less days, like half of the Wednesdays or Thursdays. We just prefer not to have a new person every time as that isn’t as helpful.

This is an easy, yet important, way to help us keep this program running smoothly. If you or anyone you know is interested, please let us know. We are always open to adding more help in other ways too, so if this doesn’t work but you want to help with Eagle Extras, feel free to reach out through eagleextras@irvingpto.com.

WINTER/SPRING 2023 Session Dates: Classes will run February 2, 2023 – May 5, 2023

The class schedule is posted below. Click HERE for detailed course descriptions, pricing and additional information.

Eagle Extras - SPRING 2023 (Updated 1-20-2023)

If you are unable to use the online registration system, please let us know via email (eagleextras@irvingpto.com) and we will make other arrangements.

Late registrations will not be accepted. The parent volunteers need time to assemble class rosters for the on-site coordinators, teachers, instructors and office staff. We are not able to accommodate changes in the schedule after the registration period is over. Questions? Please contact eagleextras@irvingpto.com.

Logistics. For those children enrolled in Eagle Extras, they will be directed to go to the auditorium at the end of the school day by their teachers (you do not need to come to the school to take them to this class) where they will wait with supervision to be picked up by their Eagle Extras teacher. We help the Kindergartners get to the auditorium the first week. Kids enrolled in the afterschool programs of Hephzibah or Oak Park Friends School can participate in Eagle Extras and just need to check in with their respective programs before going to the Eagle Extras class. For kids in other after school programs, you need to check with those programs directly to see if they can make accommodations to pick up your child once their Eagle Extras class is over.

Limited Space/Waitlist: Space is limited and classes are filled on a first come first serve basis. Please register early to reserve your child’s spot in the class(es).  Also please don’t hesitate to utilize the wait list option if a class is showing as full when you try to enroll. We will do our best to accommodate all interested.

Cancellations: Classes with an outdoor component may be canceled due to inclement weather.  Please be advised that efforts will be made to make up the missed time when feasible. Refunds will not be issued for classes cancelled due to weather. Classes that have to be canceled due to an instructor emergency or illness will be handled on a case by case basis.

Scholarships are available! If your child qualifies for free/reduced lunch you are eligible for one scholarship per session per child. If your child does not currently qualify for free/reduced lunch, but you have a financial hardship making it difficult to pay for a class, there are additional funds available for these circumstances as well.

  • Free/Reduced Lunch: If you already have qualified for free/reduced lunch, watch your email for a note from Ms. Mura with a list of codes that will enable you to sign up for a class for free. While these codes you receive will work on all classes, your student is only eligible for one class per session. If you have more than one student at Irving, each student is eligible for one class per session. Please do not use the codes to enroll in more than one class per session.
  • Not qualified for Free/Reduced Lunch, but have a financial hardship? If you are in need of financial help and are not currently qualified for free/reduced lunch, please email Ms. Mura, smura@op97.org, requesting a scholarship so she can get you the assistance needed to register your child.

Payment Plans! When you are registering you can elect to participate in a payment plan at no additional cost to you! Hooray!
