News from District 97
Lincoln School Earns Grant from Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation 
The Lincoln PTO was awarded a $1000 grant from the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation’s Future Philanthropist Program, which will be used to create a community garden behind the school. The grant proposal was written by teachers Claire Bartell, Diane Conmy, Matthew Kuntz, Rebecca Meisinger and Lindsay Smith, parent Laura Hsieh and Principal Cathy Hamilton.  Please click here to read more about the Future Philanthropist Program.

Bus Buddies Program at Whittier 
The March-April edition of the Whittier Greenleaf Newsletter features an article about the school’s Bus Buddies program that was written by students. Bus Buddies is a program that pairs up early childhood students with a fourth or fifth grader who helps them with bus dismissal each day. Please click here to read the article.

Award-Winning Documentary Now Showing at Lake Theatre
The PTO Council is inviting Oak Park parents/guardians and interested community members to consider attending a screening of the award-winning documentary “Bully,” which is showing at the Lake Theatre through May 3. Please click here to read a message from the council about the documentary.

Irving Sleepover is Friday, May 4th

The Irving Sleepover is Friday, May 4th. If you want to sign up, you are running out of time! Please see Mr. Sak for forms to sign up as soon as possible. The cost per student is 20 dollars. Checks can be made out to the Irving PTO. There are also forms on The Digital Backpack on Irving’s webpage that you can print and turn in.
