Lauren VanderBerg–Co-President: Lauren is an Irving Mom of three with kids in 5th, 3rd and 2nd grade. Lauren has been a part of the PTO and active in many committees since her oldest daughter’s kindergarten year. She has been a room parent every year, she started as an instructor in the World Language Program and now runs the program, she has run the Pacers program and was a co-chair of the Irving Appreciation Committee. She has served as the Co-VP of Marketing and Communications for the last two years and is responsible for the Irving Update, weekly newsletter. She is looking forward to helming the PTO through this tumultuous time alongside the current co-president.

Susan Raphael–Co-Communications:  Susan has twin girls currently in 3rd grade and a son in 6th Grade at Julian. During her children’s time at Irving, Susan has served as Chair of the Irving Craft Fair, online auction volunteer, library volunteer and room parent.  She is also the PTO’s current Co-Treasurer and has served one year as the Volunteer Coordinator.  “After this year, I was planning on moving on to other volunteer activities after serving on the PTO Executive Board for the last three years, but since the pandemic, I believe the role of the PTO Board is more important than ever before and there is  a greater need to think creatively how to best serve our families and community. I welcome the opportunity to continue to serve the Irving community as Co-Communications Vice President.”

Wendy Alvarez–Co-Communications:
Hello my name is Wendy Alvarez. I have a daughter in 3rd grade and I am excited to be a part of something great!

Beata Strzemzalska’ Rzucidlo–Co-Treasurer:  Beata Rzucidlo is the parent of two proud Irving students. Philip who is currently in 2nd grade and Grant who is a 1st grader.  I have served as room parent for Philip’s class and found it to be very rewarding. However, I feel I can do more. This is why I am interested in serving as Co-Treasurer for the PTO. The PTO has been so generous to my family and our entire Irving community. I want to give back! In my profession I have been fortunate enough to gain extensive knowledge of Quickbooks and tax software which I believe would be helpful to the organization. Please know that if elected as the Co-Treasurer I will bring a strong work ethic, ability to collaborate and an open mind to understanding many perspectives. I welcome the opportunity to serve.

Jen Trudell–Co Secretary:  My name is Jen Trudell, and I have three kids at Irving. Alice is 10 and in 4th grade (Kelly), Quinn is 8 and in 2nd grade (Pelling) and Greta is also 8 and in 2nd grade (L. Williams). I work full-time as a software engineer at a company that uses machine learning to assist companies with compliance in regulatory matters. I’ve lived in Oak Park since 2008, and we have been at Irving for 5 years now. I am interested in joining the PTO because I love the Irving community and, now that I no longer have tiny kids at home, I have more time to help.

Lisa Berube–Co-Chair Diversity & Inclusion Committee: My name is Lisa Berube and my kiddo Wade is in Ms. Williams’ kindergarten class. We are new to the area but immediately fell in love with the strong, loving, and compassionate sense of community in Oak Park and, at Irving more specifically. I would love to serve as co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion community to be able to participate in this community building in an affirming, safe, and enthusiastic way. Also, as a Sociologist, I spend a lot of time teaching and thinking about inequality but rarely ever get to put it into practice outside my classroom and home. I would be honored to work side by side with the PTO and all of our families, teachers, administrators, and staff to continue Irving’s great work on making school (and life) a safer, more affirming, and fun experience.
