Irving’s Spring Book Fair – CLASSROOM COIN CHALLENGE

Monday, April 14 – Thursday, April 17
Bring your loose change to your class next week and compete to see which homeroom can raise the most money!  The winning class will get to come to the Book Fair with librarian Ms. Noonan during the week of April 21st and use the funds raised to pick out books for our library.  Should we get more mystery books?  More sports books?  You get to decide!  These books will get a bookplate honoring the winning class, be displayed on a special shelf in the library, and the winners will get the first opportunity to check these books out.
Students will also help to select books that our school will donate to Parenthesis Family Center–a local  group that provides a variety of programs to families with young children.  In addition, Scholastic Books will match our monetary donation by giving books to two non-profit organizations, Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.  These organizations help schools and libraries in both impoverished areas and areas destroyed by natural disasters, such as the Oklahoma and Missouri cities affected by recent years’ tornados.

2014 SEOPCO Membership Campaign

SEOPCO:  Celebrating a decade of bringing neighbors together.

Dear neighbors,

Can you believe SEOPCO was formed 10 years ago? We’ve accomplished a lot in the past decade! Working together as a community, we’ve:

* Helped transform the image of Southeast Oak Park, now widely known as a great place to live.

* Celebrated the neighborhood every summer in Barrie Park with Movie Night and Barrie Fest.

* Brought critical issues and political candidates to public forums held at Irving School.

* Regularly sent important information via e-mail to over 500 households.

* Showcased the neighborhood on our web site and on Facebook.

* Offered a voice for expressing neighborhood concerns about public safety, transportation, economic development, neighborhood pride and civic engagement.

As we begin our second decade, we need your financial support. SEOPCO’s annual budget is around $5,000. Barrie Fest and Movie Night require about 80% of our budget. These expenses have been largely underwritten by local businesses.

Now it’s time to show our current sponsors that Southeast Oak Parkers are also willing to support SEOPCO’s efforts on behalf of the neighborhood. So many people tell us that they appreciate what SEOPCO does. Now we need to have that appreciation expressed with a modest gesture of financial support.

Our suggested household annual membership is just $20. Please take a moment to donate:

Thanks for your support.
