District 97 Seeking Members for Facilities Advisory Committee

District 97 is seeking dedicated individuals from the community who are interested in taking an active role in shaping the future of our schools by applying to serve in a voluntary capacity on our Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC).

The committee, which meets on a monthly basis, is comprised of members who have a wide array of interests and areas of expertise (architecture, engineering, energy efficiency). It provides the District 97 Board of Education and administration with oversight and guidance on the district’s facilities and infrastructure, master facilities plan, Life Safety plans and proposed capital improvement projects. You can access additional information about FAC, including the committee charge, by visitinghttp://www.op97.org/board-of-education/Facilities-Committee.cfm.

The Board of Education is responsible for selecting the members for FAC, and is currently seeking to fill several openings on the committee. If you would like to be considered for membership, or need additional information about the committee, please contact me via e-mail at cjasculca@op97.org.

Thank you for your time, your support and your continued commitment to providing the children of Oak Park with access to a high-quality education.

School Supplies Update – Oak Park Public Library (OPPL) card

Hello Irving families!

I hope you are having a wonderful summer.  It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to think about school supplies!  As you begin purchasing things for your students, please include an Oak Park Public Library (OPPL) card to your list.  The benefits of having a library card are huge.
  • Access to all OPPL’s FREE databases for research and homework help.  This is especially important in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade as students begin doing more in-class research.
  • A great way to find books that Irving may not have.  We work with OPPL to suggest books and series that students will enjoy.
  • Access to multiple copies of books that numerous students are reading.  This is especially helpful for Monarch, Bluestem, Rebecca Caudill and Reading Olympics books.
  • Access to ebooks including Kindle, Nook, etc.
  • OPPL does fantastic programming for students of all ages including story times, crafts, movies, games, book discussions, etc.  It’s a great community to be involved in!
The D97 Teacher-Librarians are hoping that all students in District 97 will have a card to help them this school year.
Thanks!  See you soon!
