Irving Book Fair is Back!

Help support our school and grow your own home library at the Irving Book Fair! Now back in the school auditorium after school Monday through Thursday, April 25 – 28, 2022. We are able to accept cash, checks and credit cards at the return of this beloved in-person event!

A Silly Spring Storytime will be held on Wednesday at 6:30pm featuring read-alouds from Ms. Noonan, Mr. Blecha, Ms. Williams, Mr. Williams, Mr. Hodge and Ms. Mura …Plus popcorn and snacks!

Through the Book Fair, we are able to raise money for the Irving library, provide free books to our free and reduced lunch families, and provide opportunities for families to purchase books for their kids as well as their teachers. For any families who are interested in purchasing books for their teacher’s classrooms, many of the teachers have set aside a few books that they feel would benefit their classrooms – please ask and we’ll help you find them!

Plus, everyone who attends will receive a Chicago Wolves knit hat! This is not a school fundraiser; just a chance to enjoy an afternoon of fun with some fellow Irving Eagles. Hope to see you there!

Gender Equity Training Event

D97 Divco is welcoming all parents, caregivers, teachers and educational volunteers to participate in Lurie’s Gender Equity Training with representatives from Lurie Children’s Hospital. This training will help develop awareness on supporting and affirming gender identities and sexual freedoms amongst children and youth. Ensuring the safety and comfort of our children in this community is crucial and has a significant impact on their health and wellbeing. We hope you will join the rest of our D97 community in working towards a more loving and accepting space for all children.

Fill the Fridges!

Please help Irving Elementary fight food insecurity in our community! Our school has been assigned to fill the fridges EVERY day from Sunday 1/16 to Saturday 1/22, so on days when school is not in session, please bring any items you can spare directly to the community fridges at Carnival Foods (824 S. Oak Park Ave) or in the Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church Parking Lot (405 S. Euclid). Due to the very cold weather, canned goods have been freezing and bursting, so the organizers are asking us to please only bring non-canned food items at this time. Thank you for your help in supporting our community!
