Irving Fun Run Pledge Rewards

All students are encouraged to reach their individual pledge goal of $30.00

All online pledges are merged with in-school pledges for student pledge totals.

Reach your $30.00 pledge goal:

  • Students that raise their pledge goal receive a School Spirit Store certificate.
  • The Top pledging student in the school will receive a fitness pack (exercise and fitness related items.)
  • The Top pledging student in each classroom will get to be the gym teacher for their class!
  • The Top 5 pledging students in the school will get a gift certificate for a Subway lunch.

Classroom Pledge Rewards:

  • All Classrooms are encouraged to work as a team to reach their class goal!
  • The classroom that raises the most will get a Recess Pack with balls, jump ropes, chalk and more.

Last year was our first Fun Run and it was so fun we’re doing it again! This year it will be on October 25th during the school day.

Gather pledges either online, by check or cash.

  • A student web page will be created for your child in seconds.  Add a picture to customize the page!  Send emails or add a post to any social media websites to help you easily gather online pledge donations from anywhere in the world!
  • Students who use their web page to ask for pledge support usually raise 3 times more than only gathering cash/check pledges. Please register your child today. We need your SUPPORT!

Maximize pledges:  Simply use the pre-written email and social media posts from the website to help your child request pledge support. It’s FAST and EASY!

Checks/Cash:  Donations can also be sent directly to the school via check or cash. Checks should be made out to “Irving PTO”. Make sure your child’s name is noted so the student and their classroom receives credit for funds raised.

PTO Meeting Thursday, October 3

We hope you can join us for the October PTO meeting, which is this week on Thursday, October 3 at 6:30pm in the Library/Media Center on the second floor. As always, free child care is provided.

This month’s meeting will include a brief presentation from students on Irving’s HAWC (Health and Wellness Committee). They’ll talk about their new initiatives, like the recent veggie tastings. Principal Hodge will present the newly released ISAT scores and will discuss how these assessments will look different as we move to the Common Core standards.

Note: PTO meetings are the first Thursday of each month during the school year, at 6:30 pm.

DEADLINE FOR TURNING IN REQUIRED HEALTH FORMS IS APPROACHING!

Health Forms that need to be submitted by October 15 are as follows:

-Certificate of Child Health and Proof of Immunizations for all Kindergarten students and all students transferring from out of the district. A letter of Religious Exemption will need to  be turned in for those declining vaccinations. Proof of a lead screening result from the age of 6 months to 6 years is required for Oak Park which is a high risk area for lead. If your kindergarten student has never been screened for lead, it will need to be done.

Vision Exam is required by October 15, 2013 for all Kindergarten and students transferring into the Illinois school system for the first time.

Dental Exam is required by May 15, 2014 for all Kindergarten and 2nd Grade.

Please contact Nurse Jamie for any issues or questions related to the required forms. If exams cannot be scheduled until after October 15th, proof of appointment can be turned in to Nurse Jamie to maintain compliance with state requirements. Jumping into Multiliteracies (JiM) Class

A reading enrichment program funded by Oak Park River Forest Youth Services, called Jumping into Multiliteracies (JiM) Class, is designed to engage 9-11 year old students in literacy activities through meaningful, interactive and academically challenging learning experiences. Students will have the opportunity to research, write, create and engage with topics of their interest though digital technology, visual and performing arts and community advocacy.
