Bean Bag Toss Competition! Have a Set to Share for a Day?

The PTO is looking to host a “Baggo on the Blacktop” fundraiser this fall and we need some help! We are looking for families to loan Baggo (bean bag toss) sets for use during the event. We are hoping for 32 sets.

Details are still being worked out, but first we’re trying to see if we have enough sets to make it happen. Feel free to ask your awesome neighbors who may not have kids at Irving if they can loan a set.

If you can help by letting us use your set please email Gloria Cockerill at gloria_marin@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Solarbration Video

Here comes the sun!

Irving students celebrated solar energy during Earth Week by having a Solarbration. Thanks to a generous grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, which was matched by the 2011 Ragnar team and private donations, Irving School now has five solar panels that are part of the plan to improve the schoolyard and integrate the environment into curriculum.

The Solarbration video celebrates the enthusiasm Irving students have for renewable energy and the environment.

You can watch a video of the Solarbration here. Music was performed by Irving students during the 2011 Winter Concert.

Please share this video with your friends and family, and ask them to consider a donation to the Irving Schoolyard Project!

Box Tops For Education Summer collection contest!

Check your childs backpack this week for a baggie (we recycled them this year!) and help your child collect as many Box Tops as possible over summer break. (Extra bags can be found in the front office if you did not recieve one) Every child who turns in a bag to the front office during the first week of school will win a prize and all Box Tops collected over the summer will be entered into a *drawing for a chance to win movie passes!

Look for the official coupon on any Box Tops for Education product, cut it out (along the dotted line please), write your child’s first and last name and teacher’s name on the back, and place inside the Ziploc bag. Return the bag to the front office any time after August 22.

Be sure to register on-line at www.boxtops4education.com to see a full list of products, find out about promotions and sales, and enter contests.

Thank-you for your support of Irving and Box Tops!

*drawing to be held on Friday August 31 at 8am.
