Irving Garden 2012

We would love your help with the Irving Garden this year. Below are three volunteer opportunities:

  1. Help with the dirt dump! A LOT of fresh garden soil will be dumped on the parkway Friday May 18th.  We will need help transporting it in wheelbarrows to the garden plots on Saturday May 19th  9am-12 pm and Sunday May 20th 1-5pm.  Bring your wheelbarrows and shovels.
  2. Volunteer in your child’s class to be a garden parent. The teachers will need help planting in the last weeks of school.
  3. Volunteer to take a water/weeding week this summer. It’s a lot of fun, you get to keep the veggies that need to be harvested and we also hope to organize some community times for people to gather at the garden and have fun.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please email me at reshma.desai30@gmail.com . If you are interested in being a garden parent, please also contact your child’s teacher directly.

Fundraiser for Irving Family

Dear Irving Community,

On behalf of the entire team that organized the fundraiser last week for Lydia Villanueva’s husband Domingo Soto, I want to profoundly thank you for your generous purchases of raffle tickets.  Between Monday and Wednesday last week, Irving parents, staff and students purchased just over $1,500 in tickets.  I know that others made contributions online.   This is the time of year with additional school expenses for you – the Book Fair, materials for the Academic Fair, etc.  In spite of other demands for your dollars, you stepped up to help this Irving family meet their extraordinary expenses.   Thanks also to Principal Hodge for facilitating a “sales table” outside of the auditorium for those three nights last week.

Sincerely,

Jim Kelly
