FLYER

Mile in the Middle

Irving 5th graders now  become Julian 6th graders next year, and they will have the chance to participate in the Mile in the Middle,  a noncompetitive run between Brooks and Julian.
The premise of the Mile in the Middle is fun. Participants can run full out or Sunday stroll. They can skip, hopscotch gambol, or  glissade if they want, run while holding hands with friends, run in costumes, run in their get there the fastest with mostest footgear or stomp along in their best store bought, goin’ out clodhoppers. They can run forward to see where they are going or run backwards to see where they’ve been; they can run sideways if they can’t decide which.
At the end of the run, the after-party starts, where there’s congratulatory high fives plus bump and G-rated grinds (this is a family event) followed by food, games, sports, a raffle, and music to get jiggy by.
Mile in the Middle is a community event. In the past, it has received support from such businesses as BikeFix, The Book Table, Body by G, Brown Cow, Buzz Cafe, Competitive Foot, Energy Tees, Greenline Wheels, Mindful Practices Yoga, Quaker/PepsiCo., and Trader Joe’s.
For this run to happen and after party to party it needs people, people to organize it and man or woman the route to hoot on the runners. This event is a great way to become acquainted with Julian, mingle with parents from other schools and catch up with parents you haven’t seen since your kids were in preschool or first year T-ball.  Contact ptojulian@gmail.com if you want to become a part of this event.
