I-290 Town Hall April 22

State Senator Kimberly A. Lightford has arranged a Town Hall Meeting on the Eisenhower Expressway and the CTA Blue Line projects. Pete Harmet (Illinois Department of Transportation), Eva-Dina Delgado (Chicago Transit Authority), and Rick Kuner (CAT – Citizens for Appropriate Transportation) will discuss the projects and respond to your questions.

You will have an opportunity to ask questions about proposals to add two lanes, build right-hand side ramps, build wider bridges, and improve the existing CTA Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line and extend it to Mannheim Road. Additional concerns are neighborhood, air and noise, social, environmental justice, and cost impacts. Mitigation of negative environmental impacts is part of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The Town Hall will be held:

Tuesday April 22, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM

Proviso Math and Science Academy Auditorium

8601 W. Roosevelt Road (northeast corner of Roosevelt Road and 1st Avenue)

Forest Park, IL

More information on Eisenhower issues is available on the CAT web site.

This event raises money for the PTO in two ways:

1.                 Tasty Dog donates 15% of every sale that day when you say you are with Irving School. Plus, the school that raises the most money also gets additional $$$ from cash prize sponsors.

  1. Raffle Tickets. For $1 you can have the chance to earn some great prizes.

Each $1 ticket gives you a chance to win one of many amazing prizes such as Chicago Bears, Wolves, Cubs and Fire tickets, School of Rock summer camp session, A2 night stay at a resort in Lake Geneva, Tennis and Fitness Center gift certificates, and much, much more!

Volunteers Needed!

We need your help selling Raffle tickets at Tasty Dog on the day of the event. 2014 SEOPCO Membership Campaign

SEOPCO:  Celebrating a decade of bringing neighbors together.

Dear neighbors,

Can you believe SEOPCO was formed 10 years ago? We’ve accomplished a lot in the past decade! Working together as a community, we’ve:

* Helped transform the image of Southeast Oak Park, now widely known as a great place to live.

* Celebrated the neighborhood every summer in Barrie Park with Movie Night and Barrie Fest.

* Brought critical issues and political candidates to public forums held at Irving School.

* Regularly sent important information via e-mail to over 500 households.

* Showcased the neighborhood on our web site and on Facebook.

* Offered a voice for expressing neighborhood concerns about public safety, transportation, economic development, neighborhood pride and civic engagement.

As we begin our second decade, we need your financial support. SEOPCO’s annual budget is around $5,000. Barrie Fest and Movie Night require about 80% of our budget. These expenses have been largely underwritten by local businesses.

Now it’s time to show our current sponsors that Southeast Oak Parkers are also willing to support SEOPCO’s efforts on behalf of the neighborhood. So many people tell us that they appreciate what SEOPCO does. Now we need to have that appreciation expressed with a modest gesture of financial support.

Our suggested household annual membership is just $20. Please take a moment to donate:

Use PayPal!  Go to our website and click on “Contribute.” Or you can mail a check to SEOPCO, P.O. Box 1722, Oak Park, IL 60304.

Thanks for your support.
