SPRING PICTURE DAY WILL BE:

TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 2012

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This year our school is sponsoring a spring picture program with Inter-State Studio Photographers; everyone’s photograph will be taken. A proof will be sent home with an order form, so you can preview the pose(s) before you purchase.

 

What to Wear?

We suggest bright and cheerful colored clothing.

WE WILL BE OFFERING SIBLING PICTURES

Siblings currently enrolled may be photographed together.

If you would like your children photographed together, please fill out the form and return to the oldest child’s teacher.

Tasty Dog Fundraiser for Irving! March 21st, 11am–8:30pm

Hey Irving Eagles! Wednesday, March 21st, 11am–8:30pm is our day!

1) Come out on our day! Tasty Dog donates 15% of every order to our school. Just say you’re with our school when you order. Plus, the school that raises the most money also gets an additional $400 – from our cash prize sponsors Gloor Realty OPRF Community Bank, Elevations, Sunstar Dental, Austin Music Center! Free coupons from Magic Tree Bookstore will also be handed out on our challenge day.

2) Buy raffle tickets! They’re just $1 each. You can win any number of amazing prizes, and 100% of our tickets sale proceeds goes directly to our school. The raffle drawing will be held on Friday, April 20th, 10am at Tasty Dog. You don’t need to be present to win.

Eagles Extras – Fitness and Fun while on the Run*

Taught by Mr. Gray and Mr. N. Sakellaris
*This class is for boys in grades 3-5

Description: Students will begin every class with a mile and a half run accompanied by Irving staff. After the run, students will come back to work on stretching and flexibility. For the remainder of each session, students will play a competitive team-building game emphasizing the development of teamwork and sportsmanship. Class will be held outdoors rain or shine. Minimum/maximum class size: 8/15. Course is 7 weeks.  Students will receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and medal for participating.

Opera for the Young & District Choral Festival

Upcoming events at Irving: Tuesday, April 3rd, Opera for the Young’s annual performance will take place at 9:30a.m. in the gym. This is an all school event sponsored by the PTO.This year’s performance is Hansel and Gretel. All students will participate singing from the audience. 16 students in 3rd-5th grade will be chosen to participate with the opera singers.

Upcoming District Choral Festival: Wednesday, April 11th at Oak Park River Forest High School. 6:45 pm arrival time, 7:00 concert. Please see attached letter and permission slip to be signed and returned to Ms. Tarabus. She is also looking for a parent to ride the bus on the days of rehearsals to Beye and to OPRFHS. Our first rehearsal is this Tuesday, March 20th. Students will not be allowed to attend rehearsal without permission slip signed. See attached permission slip for more details. There is also the option to fill permission slip online through Ms. Tarabus’ website.

OPEF’s BASE Camp now open for registration!

The Oak Park Education Foundation’s exciting roster of summer B.A.S.E. Camp classes for students entering grades 1-9 is now available for registration atwww.opef.org/basecamp/register/.  Our camps filled up fast last summer, so register soon!

This summer’s program includes Geared Up (engineering with LEGOs), LEGO Landmarks, Architecture Adventure, Vex Robotics, Genetics Mural, Dissection, Medical Illustration & Dissection, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Digital Photography, and Summer in Song (songwriting and chorus).  These will be great fun, and educational, too!

B.A.S.E. Camp runs from June 4-29, but classes vary in start dates, times, lengths and locations. It is open to children from any and all schools. And this year we’ve expanded to three locations: Julian Middle School, Brooks Middle School, and Oak Park and River Forest High School.
