Fun Fair Ticket Discount Extended!

Since our 5th graders were away on their overnight field trip this week, the Fun Fair ticket discount has been extended. Next Tuesday and Wednesday, tickets will still be 6 for $1!

Thursday and Friday, they will be 5 for $1, and if you buy them on site at the Fun Fair, they will be 4 for $1.
Games and Dancin’ for Desserts are 1-3 tickets each; food and drinks are 10-12 tickets each.

Silent Auction Update

The 2013 Silent Auction will be starting on Tuesday, February 19th. This year we have received over 175 amazing auction items. There is something for every family, taste, style, interest and budget.

Items will be available either for online bidding or in-person bidding.

The Online Auction: will start on Tuesday February 19th at 6pm and run until Thursday, February 21 at 10 pm. This year 20 fantastic items will be offered in the online auction only. A link to the online site will be shared on Tuesday. Please feel free to share this with friends, family and neighbors, the more the merrier.

In-Person Bidding: New this year, we will be emailing you a “catalog” which will include all of the items available to bid on at the in-person silent auction on Saturday, February 23 from 11-3. This is a great way for you to browse what we have and plan wish list. Paper copies will be available at school during the week and on Saturday. You are welcome to share this list as well and invite friends, family and neighbors.

A special thanks to all of the families, local businesses, teachers/ staff for donating to our event, we are so grateful for your generosity. Thanks also the amazing team of parents who have been soliciting donations, Mary Celis, Jasmin Cleofe, Jennifer Dunlop, Gloria Quinones-Garcia, Hilary Klein, Jennifer Ostermeier, Kandace Regan, Amy Struckmeyer, Kim Vander Griend and Maya Zelio.

OPEF Presidents Day and Pulaski Day events for kids

Looking for exciting options for kids on Presidents Day (Feb. 18) and Casimir Pulaski Day (March 4) when schools are closed?

Presidents Day, February 18, 9-12 year olds, 2-4PM
The Oak Park Education Foundation (OPEF) is offering a special, free program for kids ages 9-12 in conjunction with the Oak Park Public Library in the Oak Park Main Library Storytime Room. Kids will design and build cool machines using the motorized LEGO mechanism sets from our Geared Up program — learning exciting hands-on lessons, testing their own ideas and working individually and in teams of two.

Casimir Pulaski Day, March 4, 3rd-8th graders, 8AM-3PM
New this year — BASE Camp GAME DAY! All day, 3rd-5th graders will play some new games and make up others.  They’ll construct their own mini-golf course out of LEGOs, play improv games to make each other laugh, create an artsy board game to take home, and cut loose with games in the gym.  6th-8th graders will spend the day designing and constructing a cardboard arcade, which the younger kids will play at the end of the day. And there will be cheesy prizes to be won!

BOOK DRIVE

Irving’s 3rd grade Brownie troop is collecting new and gently used books for ages 0-10 to benefit Chicago area organizations. Donations can be placed in the collection box in the front office or given to any Troop 40967 Girl Scout or leader. Also look for our table at the Fun Fair next weekend where we will give you 1 game ticket for every book you donate! 1 book = 1 ticket! Questions? Contact irvingscouts@gmail.com
