What is the Irving PTO Fun Run?
The Fun Run has become one of the PTO’s biggest fundraisers. Students ask friends and family for donations and it’s a great way for long distance supporters to become involved. The Fun Run is a healthy way to raise money for school activities. On October 22, during the school day, all students run laps around the field. All students participate in the Fun Run regardless of whether they brought in pledges.

How are pledges collected?
A pledge envelope went home to be returned with cash or check donations. It looks like this: one sidethe other side. If all your donations are by cash/check then you don’t have to register online.

Students can also accept credit card donations online by registering at http://www.thegetmovincrew.com (look for “Register Your Child” then select Washington Irving School). Online donations are a great way to get support from friends and family who live far away. However, the PTO keeps more money with cash and checks due to credit card processing fees. Checks are payable to “Irving School PTO.”

Pledges are due on the day of the Fun Run, October 22, but they can be turned in whenever the student is done collecting before then.

Help! I can’t find my pledge envelope!
Don’t worry, you can use any plain envelope to return cash or checks. Make sure the envelope is marked with your child’s name and their teacher’s name.

Help! I’m having trouble with the online registration system or I can’t find my login details.
Email parent coordinators Laura Crawford (lauracrawford47@gmail.com) or Hilary Klein (Hklein16@gmail.com) for help with online registration issues. Note that you only have to register online if you’re accepting online donations. The registration email confirmation comes from noreply@eventsonline.ca and we can resend this info if needed.

Where and when do we send donations?
Return envelopes to your child’s teacher once they’re done collecting pledges, or put them in the locked PTO mailbox in the front office. Online donations are processed automatically. Donations are due on or before October 22, the day of the Fun Run.

How far do the kids run?
We don’t keep track of how many laps the kids run during the 30 minute run. It’s all for fun! Pledges are for a flat amount, not per lap.

Are there prizes?
Yes! Classes are competing against each other to bring in the most money (and bragging rights)!
All students are given the starting goal of $30, but most choose a higher amount.
Students that raise $30 or more receive a School Spirit Store certificate.
The top pledging student in the school will receive a Fitness Pack with cool things in it.
The top 5 pledging students in the school will get a gift certificate for lunch at a local restaurant.
The top pledging student in each classroom will get to be the PE teacher for their class one day!
The classroom that raises the most will get a Recess Pack with super fun stuff, and a TROPHY!
All students in the school will receive a small flashlight as a prize for participation as a way of saying “thank you” for making it such a fun day.

How close are we to the school goal?
Click here to see the school progress thermometer.
Log in to your child’s personal website to track progress for their classroom and to see the classroom leader board.

Can families come to cheer?
Yes! Family and friends are welcome to come cheer on students during the Fun Run. Make signs, bring noisemakers or bring younger siblings to cheer on the kids. The students run during these times:
Kindergarten 8:15 – 8:45
1st Grade 8:50 – 9:20
2nd Grade 9:25 – 9:55
3rd Grade 12:15 – 12:45
4th Grade 12:50 – 1:20
5th Grade 1:25 – 1:55

This sounds awesome! Can I help out?
Sure! We need a few volunteers to help on the day of the Fun Run, Wednesday, October 22. Shifts are from 8-10AM and/or from 12-2PMSign up here or email parent coordinators Laura Crawford (lauracrawford47@gmail.com) or Hilary Klein (Hklein16@gmail.com).

Will there be food?
After the Fun Run, students will be directed to take a snack and water from a table outside next to the field. We have asked Whole Foods and Jewel to donate healthy snacks like bananas and apples but we don’t yet know exactly what they’ll provide. If you have a concern about food please contact your child’s teacher or parent coordinators Laura Crawford (lauracrawford47@gmail.com) or Hilary Klein (Hklein16@gmail.com).

Can my company match our donation?
It’s worth asking them. Checks are payable to “Irving School PTO.” The PTO is a 501(c)3 and donations are tax deductible in accordance with the law. A donation receipt letter can be provided upon request.

What are the pledges and donations used for?
The PTO raises money throughout the year to supplement school activities like cultural enrichment performances, homework club, staff appreciation, field trip scholarships, and library furniture. For more details see the budget info on the PTO website.

This was fun, but I have a question about something else.
Email parent coordinators Laura Crawford (lauracrawford47@gmail.com) or Hilary Klein (Hklein16@gmail.com).
