Course Description: The course will begin with a couple of weeks of dissecting current newspaper and becoming familiar with the parts of the paper.  We will look at opinion pieces, news pieces, sports pieces and others.  After those weeks we will begin brainstorming topics for our newspaper.  The remaining weeks will be devoted to researching, writing and editing the pieces.  Students will have weekly assignments to bring to class.  These might include an interview or some research.  In the final weeks of class, the students will participate in choosing pieces to be included in a final printed newspaper that will be handed out to the student population.
