CAST on Tour: October 16 and October 21

The CAST performing arts program at Julian Middle School opens its 30th season when CAST on Tour performs “Matahei the Stutterer.” Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, at Beye Elementary School, 230 N. Cuyler Ave., and at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Irving Elementary School, 1125 S. Cuyler Ave.

This magical Japanese folk tale was first adopted for the Kabuki theater in 1719. Children will enjoy the visual nature of the show, which runs about 30 minutes.

Book Fair Volunteers NEEDED!

It’s time for the Irving Book Fair–Mon, Oct. 26 – Thurs. Oct. 29

We are looking for another great crew of volunteers this year! We need people for set up, stapling and collating flyers, supervising classroom visits, driving to Roselle to pick up a box of books from the warehouse each day, working public sales hours, watching volunteers’ kids on the playground, and packing up the sale. Even if you can only work an hour, we’d love to have you, especially at dismissal!

An amazing selection of books is headed our way!   Teacher wish lists will be available at the sale to help build classroom libraries.  Our profits from the book sale help create an amazing school library!

If you can’t make it to our fair, the online book fair runs from October 26th- November 15th. It’s a great way to stock up on holiday gifts or find a special gift for a special teacher!
