Dancing for Desserts Donations Needed

Dancing for Desserts is a hugely popular game at the Fun Fair, and its success depends on many dessert donations. It’s the same idea as the old Cake Walk you may have done at school. The winning numbers get to take home a dessert.

WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS AND/OR YOUR VOLUNTEER TIME: You can drop off desserts (home made or store bought is fine) in the Community Room starting at 9am the morning of the Fun Fair – February 22.

All desserts need to be nut free, unless clearly marked.  We are unable to return serving plates or trays (boxes from Costco work great for this!).

One item, or prize, would consist of one of the following:

12 Cupcakes or 12 bars or 24 cookies or 1 cake or 1 pie

IF YOU ARE WILLING TO BRING A DONATION or VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME, PLEASE USE SIGN UP GENIUS HERE!

Any questions, email Lori McConnell

Thanks so much, and see you at the Fun Fair!

DATE: 2/21/2015 (Sat 9:00AM – 2:00PM)

National Drug Facts Week! Shatter the Myths

Join IMP.A.C.T, SADD and the OPRF Parent Connection as we Shatter the Myths of Teen Drug and Alcohol Use

Monday, January 26th
6:30 – 9 pm
Oak Park & River Forest High School, North Cafeteria 201 N. Scoville Avenue

Perceptions of risk and use of youth drinking and drug use among students and parents have an impact on current and future use. On January 26th, we’ll try to shatter some of the myths and engage parents and students in open and honest dialogue about the realities of substance use and its consequences.

Keith Bullock, LCSW, CADC will provide some insights and will guide discussion among participants. Keith is an Oak Park parent and the Student Assistant Coordinator at Downers Grove North High School.

Parents and students are invited and encouraged to attend. It is a great opportunity to begin and/or continue important converstions. All are welcome, but reservations are requested. Please RSVP at http://tinyurl.com/RSVP-Jan26

Onsite childcare will be available and refreshments will be served.

We hope to see you there!

Auction Items NEEDED!!!

Coming soon…

IRVING FUN FAIR &

SILENT AUCTION

February 21,2015

WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR OUR SILENT AUCTION!

Mark your calendars as we will once again be having our annual Fun Fair and Silent Auction on Saturday, February 21, 2015!   It will be a day filled with fun and excitement!

The Silent Auction is our biggest annual fundraiser and last year we raised $16,500! The money from the Silent Auction goes directly to the Irving PTO, which continues to fund various programs to enhance the quality of education for our students and teachers. Our success last year was due in large part to your direct support in soliciting items and donating items for this event. Once again we need your support. Please think about talents, items or services you or your employer could donate. Items that are always popular include:

–Sporting—Cubs, Sox, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls or theatre tickets

–Museum memberships

–Restaurant certificates/gift cards

–Jewelry

–Use of a vacation home or time share

–Services (i.e. interior design, housecleaning, painting, landscaping, contracting)

Anything you like—chances are someone else will want it too!!

Don’t know what to donate to the auction?  How about a parent hosted party?  This can be a parent hosted party for just kids or adult only. Back for a second year, we will be selling tickets to parent- and teacher-hosted parties.  You tell us When, Where, For what age, How many, and Your theme and we will sell the tickets.  We can also work with you to come up with an idea. The tickets will be a set price, no bidding.  Here are some ideas:

-Parent only progressive dinner hosted by a you and your neighbors

-Cocktails and Game Night

-Cooking or Sewing Class

-Creative Crafts for Kids

-Themed Kid Party (Pirate, Minecraft, Movie Night, etc)

Donations and/or certificates can be dropped off at the school office or you can contact me directly. Please fill out the information on the back of this letter and include it with your donation.  If you have any questions about your donation please call or e-mail me.

Thank you for helping in making the 2015 Fun Fair and Silent Auction a huge success!!

Best Regards,

Jessica Flannery
