Student Council Mitten Drive!

Student Council is sponsoring a school-wide mitten drive!  We will be collecting new mittens and gloves during the month of November. Some of the mittens will be kept at school for students that have forgotten their mittens to borrow during recess, but most of the mittens will be donated to Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society’s Children’s Clinic.  They serve children up to age 18, so new gloves and mittens of all sizes are appreciated!

When you donate a pair of mittens or gloves, then you get to color a mitten picture that will be hung up around the main office. We will also put your name in a raffle to win a prize at the end of the month! Also, the grade level with the most donations will get a special snack!

More Irving Book Fair

We just wanted to thank everyone on behalf of the Irving Book Fair! Over 90 books were purchased from our teachers’ wish lists to help expand their classroom libraries.
The physical book sale is over, but our online Irving Book Fair continues until November 9th with a much larger catalog of books to choose from!  All books will be shipped free of charge to the school when the sale is done, and we will deliver them to the classrooms. If you missed out on grabbing a copy of The Adventures of Beekle or any of popular titles when we ran out, here’s your chance to get one. It’s also a great way to do some holiday shopping (if you want your purchases to be a surprise, just send me an email and I can deliver them to your house)!  Profits from the online sale get added to our physical sale’s total, allowing us to get some growth bonuses and earn more money for our library!
The online sale can be accessed at :

Thank YOU — from The Fun Run Team!

The PTO wants to thank all parents, students and staff for making our Fun Run Wednesday a huge success!

The Fun Run has become one of the PTO’s biggest fundraisers and we are thrilled that this year we raised over $16,000. Our goal was $10,000! These funds help the PTO to cover scholarships, academic enrichment and facility updates like the basketball posts, staff lounge, and new water fountains (coming this year).
More importantly, this was a record year for participation. Almost twice as many students brought in donations of any amount than in the past. There were many $1 donations and change from piggy banks. Our kids love their school and it shows.
Please send any additional donations to the front office via your child’s teacher.
Prizes will be announced after next Wednesday to give people a bit more time to get donations in.
Thank you!
The Irving PTO
