CAST on Tour: October 16 and October 21
The CAST performing arts program at Julian Middle School opens its 30th season when CAST on Tour performs “Matahei the Stutterer.” Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, at Beye Elementary School, 230 N. Cuyler Ave., and at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Irving Elementary School, 1125 S. Cuyler Ave.
This magical Japanese folk tale was first adopted for the Kabuki theater in 1719. Children will enjoy the visual nature of the show, which runs about 30 minutes.

Columbus Day Activity from OPEF
Oak Park Education Foundation offers BASE Camp Arboretum Adventures, a new one-day camp, which is coming up on Monday, October 12 (no school for Columbus Day). Registration deadline is October 6! Transform a Monday off from school into a nature and science adventure at the Morton Arboretum, a 1,700-acre living museum. Open to all kids from any school (K-5). $100 per camper for 8 am to 3 pm; +$25 for Extended Camp 3-6 pm. Drop-off, pick-up and Extended Camp at Brooks Middle School, and the kids take a bus to the Arboretum. Find more information at opef.org/basecamp.
