Group Ice Skating at Ridgeland Commons

The Park District has designed a group skating program that makes it easy for classes, grades, or schools to take advantage of having an newly renovated indoor ice rink in our community.  The Park District offers special group pricing as well as assistance in ensuring your event runs smoothly and successfully.  Below is a flyer that has basic information about the group skating program we offer which includes time during school hours – perfect for field trips!  Also attached is the informational packet that provides detailed information about group skating as well as an application form.

We are hoping to have as many Oak Park students as possible come to the rink this winter!  Please pass this information along to anyone who might be interested.  You can also contact me with any questions you might have.   Thank you!

First Day of School Message from John Hodge

Good Evening Everyone,

I wanted to send a quick email to everyone about the first day of school.   We are looking forward to seeing your child(ren) tomorrow  and to working in partnership with each of our families throughout the year.

The first bell will ring tomorrow at 7:57 a.m. and the second bell will ring at 8:00 a.m. I am attaching the flier with the map of line up locations.  We will also have each teacher’s name posted on the door where your child will enter and exit each day.

As a reminder, do not park in the bus loading zone on Cuyler.  You can find parking either on the East side of Cuyler  or on the surrounding blocks.  Please do not stop in the middle of Cuyler in front of the school to drop off or pick up your child.

As you may know, the National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures and humidity for the city of Chicago and surrounding suburbs next week. As a result, we will be taking the necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our students and staff. These precautions will include, but not be limited to:

  • Taking frequent water breaks.
  • Suspending outdoor activities if necessary.
  • Maximizing the use of the air conditioned portions of our facilities, including the rooms that feature unit ventilators .

In addition, we will utilize the temperature/humidity control sensors in our classrooms to closely monitor the conditions in our buildings and adjust our plans as needed to preserve the physical well-being of our children.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning and to a great school year!

John
