Garden Club

Everyone in the Irving community belongs to Garden Club! There are two components:

  • One is a FREE after-school club that promotes the joy of discovery, learning, observation, hard work, patience, teamwork, and fun through gardening and growing healthy foods.  Garden Club provides students with hands-on experience in growing their own fruits and vegetables, discovering wildlife above and below ground, and tasting the results of their labor. We use sustainable and organic gardening practices to cultivate areas that will feed and sustain our native wildlife, especially our bees, bugs, and butterflies.
  • Garden Club volunteers also assist teachers in planting and harvesting with their classrooms. In the Spring and Fall, volunteers are needed to run activities and assist students in garden maintenance and care.

Contact Alix Strunk (alix.strunk@gmail.com) to join in the fun — it’s time to get the Irving Garden growing and we need your help!

It’s divided up by garden bed and each garden bed connects with a book that the plants will be themed on. Watch the video below for ALL the details. You do not need to know about gardening (we’re all still learning a lot, too!). The team will coach you and let you know what needs to be done.
Here’s Denise to explain how it all works…. https://youtu.be/0KnqJn6VBWY

Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you in the Garden!
