Classroom Coin Challenge!

Do you want to win books for your class?  Suggest books for Ms. Noonan to pick for our library? Help give children in our community their first books?  Then get ready for the

Classroom Coin Challenge!

 Monday, April 13 – Thursday, April 16

Bring your loose change to your class next week and compete to see which homeroom can raise the most money!

The winning class will get to come to the Book Fair with their teacher the week of April 20th and use some of the funds raised to pick out books for their class and make some suggestions to Ms. Noonan for books for her to pick out for our library.  Should we get more mystery books?  More sports books?  You get to decide!  These books will get a bookplate honoring the winning class.

Students will also help to select books that our school will donate to Parenthesis Family Center–a local  group that provides a variety of programs to families with young children.  In addition, Scholastic Books will match our monetary donation by giving books to two non-profit organizations, Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.  These organizations help schools and libraries in both impoverished areas and areas destroyed by natural disasters, such as the Oklahoma and Missouri cities affected by recent years’ tornados.

NO FOREIGN COINS, PLEASE

Irving Book Fair Coming Soon! Volunteers NEEDED!!

It’s time for the Irving Book Fair–Mon, April 20-Fri, April 24.

We are looking for another great crew of volunteers this year! We need people for set up, stapling and collating flyers, supervising classroom visits, working public sales hours, watching volunteers’ kids on the playground, and packing up the sale. We also need people the week before the fair April 13-16 to count coins from the classroom coin collection competition. Even if you can only work an hour, we’d love to have you, especially at dismissal!

Can’t come and help because of kids or your schedule? We have jobs you can do at home: making posters, baking treats for the teacher preview and our volunteers, or processing leftover teacher wish list items for the online book fair.  Just email Stephanie  at gremlin44@gmail.com.

Our Book Fair is such a great success due to our wonderful volunteers! Our kids get so excited when they see the Book Fair truck pull up, and watching their enthusiasm as they select books is really heart warming.
