Hi Parents:
A friendly reminder that classes will be dismissed at 11 a.m. on both Thursday and Friday this week (Feb 12 & Feb 13) for Teacher Conferences.
Have a great rest of your week!
The CAST performing arts program at Julian Middle School will kick off its spring season on Feb. 20-21with 7:30 p.m. presentations of “Freedom Summer, Mississippi” in celebration of Black History Month. CAST will present, in song and text, the 1964 campaign in which hundreds of student volunteers from around the country joined organizers and local African-Americans in a historic campaign to attempt to register African-American voters in Mississippi, where blacks historically had been excluded from voting. Tickets are available in advance through the CAST website at www.op97.org/CAST or may be purchased at the door. Please contact Kathy Simon at 708 524 7848 or ksimon@op97.org for more information.
Irving Families:
Earlier today I received a call from the Oak Park Department of Public Works regarding street closures on Cuyler due to scheduled tree trimming and maintenance. I wanted to be sure to share this information with you so that you can plan your trips to Irving School accordingly.
Friday, February 6th:
Monday, February 9th:
I am told there will also be “No Parking” signage to follow on each day to assist drivers. With everyone’s cooperation in following the parking restrictions, the Department of Public Works believes that tree maintenance will be completed on Cuyler by Tuesday, February 10th.
As always, thank you in advance for your patience and support.
John
